Welcome Hungry Kids of Hungary to Alberts
Posted on 22 Jun 2012
Off the back of their whirlwind European tour, Hungry Kids of Hungary made a quick stop into Sydney, not only for last night’s Select Music Birthday performance which brought the venue to capacity with queues around the corner, but also to sign a world-wide publishing deal with Alberts.
Last night’s performance at The Beresford in Sydney, saw the band perform crowd favourites as well as three brand new songs off their forthcoming album recorded with Wayne Connolly at Albert Studios. From the crowd reaction, their still untitled sophomore album will definitely please fans of their debut Escapades and will win them more.
Hungry Kids of Hungary started out as a bunch of friends drawn together by a love of writing simple, honest tunes. Rather than trying to make waves straight out of the box, the four piece sat back, honed their craft and quickly emerged with tracks like ‘Set It Right’, ‘Scattered Diamonds’ and ‘Let You Down’. These tracks quickly landed onto rotation on Australian national broadcaster triple j, were heard on television screens across the globe (The Inbetweeners, Grey’s Anatomy, Royal Pains, Ugly Betty and Cougar Town) and saw the band hitting the road on a relentless touring schedule. Their recent European tour took them to the UK, Belgium, Germany, France and the Netherlands, where they played their biggest show to date to 10,000 people at the renowned Pinkpop festival.
The Hungry Kids of Hungary join songwriters Josh Pyke, Tim Levinson, The Oceanics, Harry James Angus and Sam Buckingham who signed recently to the growing group of talented writers on the Alberts roster.
