Top 12 Finalists announced for Vanda & Young Song Competition

This Friday, July 15, the announcement of the 2011 Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition Winner, will be made. The wait for a dozen songwriters is over as APRA|AMCOS and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia (NRMTA) proudly announce the Top 12 Finalists in the 2011 Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition.
The 18 strong industry judging panel have met today and agreed on the Top 12 Finalists who have been shortlisted for the major prize. While the competition drew entries from aspiring songwriters all over the world, the Top 12 finalists are all from Australia and New Zealand. In alphabetical order, they are listed with their performing names and song titles:

◦Husky Gawenda – Husky - 'Tidal Wave'
◦Jessica Chapnik Kahn – Appleonia -'Lost At Sea'
◦Katy Steele – Katy Steele - 'New Born'
◦Katy Steele – Katy Steele - 'Brother'
◦Kevin Mitchell – Jebediah – 'She's Like A Comet'
◦Kimbra Johnson – Kimbra – 'Cameo Lover'
◦Mark Sholtez – Mark Sholtez - 'The Mystery Of You'
◦Ohad Rein – Old Man River – 'You're On My Mind'
◦Tobias Priddle – Boy In A Box – 'Moon Comes Up'
◦Wally de Backer – Gotye – 'Somebody That I Used To Know'
The Top 3 songwriters will be announced on Friday and the winner will receive an astounding $50,000+ AUD career-changing prize package, with second and third place prize winners receiving receiving cash and prizes with a total value over $10,000.
The Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition is only in its second year but has quickly become Australia's most prestigious and lucrative songwriting competition. Megan Washington was the inaugural winner with her song 'How to Tame Lions'.
Over 4000 entries have been received from across the globe, which is an extra 1500 entries more than the previous year.
All money raised from the entries goes directly to supporting Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia. The total amount of money raised will also be announced on Friday 15th July.
