Posted on 18 Mar 2014

The Cat Empire performed their 1000th show at Fed Square in Melbourne Friday March 21st

After 10 years, over 1.5 million albums sold worldwide and 999 performances to over 6 million people, The Cat Empire firmly etched this milestone moment with a free concert at Federation Square in front of 12,000 keen fans.

"It was a tough choice as to where the 1000th show should be held, but our home town has won" said The Cat Empire on their website

Their first show was on May 24, 2001 to 50 people and their biggest show to date was July 6, 2013 to over 250,000 people.

Holding the record for the most shows in a row at Sydney's Metro Theatre (eight shows in seven days) and the most shows played at Melbourne's Prince of Wales band room, The Cat Empire estimate that in the past decade they've hired 2500 cars, used 12000 hotel rooms, missed 12 flights, cancelled one show and recorded 76 songs over six albums.
