The Angels debut Top 25 on ARIA ALBUM CHART
Posted on 10 Sep 2012
The first new album recording for The Angels in fourteen years debuts this week Top 25 on the ARIA Album Chart.
'Take It To The Streets' was recorded at Albert Studios with new front man Dave Gleeson. Rick and John Brewster (Alberts writers) had been chewing over recording a new album in 2011 but with Doc Neeson pursuing a solo career, it was with Chris Bailey that the trio set out to find a new singer. The Brewster brothers had songs penned over for a number of years and had been itching to record them.
With the addition of Dave Gleeson and recently recruited drummer Nick Norton Rick, John and Chris knew they had their band. John Brewster who founded The Angels with Rick and Doc in 1974, and produced the Take It To The Streets with Rick "knew it could work onstage with Dave, but it had to work in the studio. Dave sang this new song (Waiting For The Sun) three times, bam, bam, bam, we used the second take.”
Returning to Albert Studios it took 9 days to record 14 new songs. All news songs were written by the Brewster brothers with co-writes by Nick Norton, Colin Coplin, Doc Neeson, Joe Burnham and Dave Gleeson.
The new album’s first run has been packaged as a Limited 2CD edition. The bonus ‘live’ disc features 14 songs (including classic Angels and some of the brand new tracks). These tracks were recorded at QPAC in Brisbane and feature Dave Gleeson on lead vocals.
