Richard Clapton celebrates his 40th Anniversary

Posted on 16 Jul 2014

Iconic Australian singer-songwriter and ARIA Hall of Famer Richard Clapton celebrates the 40th anniversary of his debut album with the release of "Best Years 1974-2014 / The 40th Anniversary Collection" and the publication of Clapton’s memoir, "The Best Years of Our Lives"

For 40 years Richard Clapton has been, above all else, a songwriter – a wry observer of human behaviour and an astute commentator on the Australian condition. His best songs capture the essence of this country like few other writers. Now in his memoir, The Best Years of Our Lives (through Allen & Unwin released July 23) , Richard employs his keen songwriters’ powers of observation, portraiture and storytelling to tell the best one of all: the extraordinary story of his own life.

Best Years 1974-2014 / The 40th Anniversary Collection (released through Warner Music August 1st) is a 3 CD and DVD of classic Clapton recordings spanning his whole career plus for the first time on DVD, the legendary 1988 concert film ‘The Best Years of Our Lives’

The DVD shows the power of the artist as a live performer; the 3 CD’s cover the length and breadth of Clapton’s oeuvre and include the classic hits, fan favourites, deep album cuts, non-album singles and a small handful of unreleased tracks.
