Oceanics take their new songs to ‘The City’

Posted on 19 Sep 2012

Gold Coast four piece, Oceanics, release a brand new song 'The City' ahead of their Australian east coast tour.

Given the list of achievements they’ve racked up in the last two years, it’s hard to believe it was only 2010 that Oceanics debuted live. Off the strength of their second EP “Bright People’ released this year, they've featured as Artist of the day on MSN & AOL in the USA, had their video featured on MTViggy, performed with “Michi” on MTV Japan and landed sync’s for Quiksilver Pro Series & Fox 8 program “SLiDE” to boot.

Locally they have  played Big Day Out 2011 (Gold Coast), supported US pop Quartet The Like, The Grates, Sparkadia, Deep Sea Arcade, Ball Park Music and The Cairos.  This has included multiple performances in front of 27,000 odd people at Skilled Park (home of the Gold Coast Titans):

Sniping at the heels of the spiky end of Brit-pop, Oceanics bring big hollow guitars and clean, jangling tones to the ears of the uninitiated.

Under the keen guidance of Jean-Paul Fung, ‘The City’ is a hook laden and infectious pop gem, upbeat and epic. Weston explains: "The City’ is more or less about the going on’s when we're on the road playing shows and having a certain love interest playing on your thoughts.
