Posted on 21 Aug 2012

Australian band Knievel, fronted by Wayne Connolly (Alberts published writer/producer). will be releasing their brand new album 'Emerald City' with Alberts facilitating the September 14th release.

Knievel return with their first album in a decade and in the lead-up have released their new single ‘Through The Rainbow Dark’.  The song’s title comes from a poem found in Ted Hughes’ Birthday Letters, and the sound has been described as “dreamy, thoughtful rock and roll”.

Featuring a beautifully crafted video clip shot in Sydney by Michael Mortlock, Marcelle Lunam, Justine Kerrigan and Mark Temple, with editing by Marcelle Lunam, ‘Through The Rainbow Dark’ is the second single to be released from the ‘Emerald City’ album:

In addition to the September 14 release Knievel’s back catalogue of albums including ‘We Fear Change’, ‘Steep Hill Climb’, ‘The Name Rings A Bell That Drowns Out Your Voice’ and ‘No One’s Going To Understand In My Way’, will be made available digitally on August 31. A bonus track on ‘Steep Hill Climb’ is an acoustic version of ‘Something Good Must Come’ featuring Josh Pyke on vocals, recorded by the band for inclusion in the Australian feature film Monkey Puzzle.

Knievel is the long-term creative outlet for ARIA-winning producer Wayne Connolly, whose credits include Josh Pyke, Paul Dempsey, You Am I, The Vines, Youthgroup, Hungry Kids of Hungary, The Cairos, and Boy and Bear. In Knievel he performs vocal and guitar duties along with original members Tracy Ellis (bass, vocals), Nick Kennedy (drums) and Tim Kevin (guitar).

Connolly is also the music advisor of Australia’s National Air carrier, Qantas.
