Goyte takes top spot on Billboard Hot 100 Chart

GOTYE has become the first Australian in over a decade to achieve the inconceivable milestone of  #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart (USA) for ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ (feat. Kimbra).

Driven by Glee, Saturday Night Live, American Idol and his stand-out Coachella performance, the track sold over 500,000 copies in the US last week. It’s now the 6th song in US history to sell more than a million downloads in just a week. World-wide, ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ has sold over 5 million sales and reached #1 on iTunes in 33 countries.
GOTYE’s 3rd album Making Mirrors broke into the Top 10 of the US Billboard 200 this week reaching #7. World-wide Making Mirrors has sold over a million copies and is certified Gold in major markets including UK, Germany, France and Canada. Here in Australia, the album 3 times Platinum.
The last Australian act to achieve #1 was Savage Garden with ‘I Knew I Loved You’ in 2000. Gotye now joins Savage Garden, INXS and Men At Work with this amazing achievement.
