Alberts are pleased to announce that Country songwriter, HARMONY JAMES has signed a world-wide publishing deal with the Australian independent music company.
To celebrate, the company got together with Harmony and manager (& producer) Herm Kovac for lunch and music on the Alberts rooftop. Harmony performed acoustically songs from her forthcoming album HANDFULS OF SKY and included her brand new song PRIDE which is close to topping the Country Radio Airplay & CMC Top 50 Countdown Charts.
“It’s great to be welcomed into this team of people who are really passionate about their place in the musical landscape. I look forward to developing my future as a writer with their support. As they say: It’s all about the song.” HARMONY JAMES
Brisbane based Harmony, came to the attention of the music industry a couple of years back when her debut single, TAILWIND, became the first Australian song ever to win the country category of the International Songwriting Competition. It blew the judges — including Roseanne Cash — out of the water. What was to follow were many more accolades from the industry regarding her songwriting - in particular her recent 2011 APRA Professional Development Award in Country.
Harmony’s manager/producer Herm Kovac is no stranger to Alberts. His association dates back to the days he was in a band with Malcolm Young and later as a key member of the Ted Mulry Gang (TMG).
“In 2009 when Harmony first sent me songs to produce I knew I was hearing one of the best songwriters this country has produced. Alberts decision and faith in her have confirmed this” says Herm. “Having personally known Ted Albert and seeing his integrity and vision in all who work there I know she is in great hands with her interests at heart”.
For Alberts CEO David Albert this is a unique opportunity as Harmony James is possibly the first new artist in this genre to be signed directly. “We’re expanding our contemporary artist roster and looking for the best and most suited talent to have long term, creative associations with. Harmony James fits well with Alberts and we have great confidence in her talent.”
