In celebration of the world-wide release of AC/DC’s Live AT River Plate DVD, AC/DC members rocked up to the exclusive world premiere at HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London on Friday night where over 1000 fans waited outside the venue to catch a glimpse of their rock legends.
Upon arriving, the band signed fan autographs and talked to media on the black carpet (which included two cannons from the tour positioned on either side!). Once inside, in front of 3,500 fans, the band were introduced on stage via an on screen message from Ozzy Osbourne followed by Brian Johnson saying a few words on behalf of the band.
AC/DC Live At River Plate premiered on a large movie screen - roughly the equivalent size of 4 double decker buses stacked! AC/DC Live At River Plate definitively chronicles the band’s massive Black Ice World Tour and the history of one of rock music’s best live acts.
Locally in Sydney, AC/DC devotees turned up in full force at the Metro Theatre last week for the Australian screening. Shot entirely in HD with 32 cameras, fans experienced the thunderous excitement and intensity of AC/DC Live At River Plate on a large screen positioned between two enormous red caps, sporting the letter ‘A’ made famous by Angus Young.
AC/DC Live At River Plate will be available for purchase in Australia on Friday May 13, 2011. Shot in December of 2009, AC/DC Live At River Plate marks AC/DC’s triumphant return to Buenos Aires after a 13 year absence from Argentina. This stunning live footage of AC/DC underscores what Argentina’s Pagina 12 newspaper reported by saying “no one is on the same level when it comes to pure and clear Rock ‘n Roll.” Directed by David Mallet and produced by Rocky Oldham, AC/DC Live At River Plate features 19 songs (110 minutes) as well as ‘behind the scenes’ footage of this massive production coming together among the excitement of anxious fans.
AC/DC Live At River Plate will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray and Ltd Edition collector’s edition with exclusive t-shirt. Additionally the DVD contains a bonus feature titled “The Fan, The Roadie, The Guitar Tech & The Meat,” features interviews with AC/DC, their crew and fans among the excitement of the shows and the city of Buenos Aires.
AC/DC Live At River Plate captures the intensity and power of the band’s critically acclaimed Black Ice World tour. The Black Ice album debuted at #1 in 31 countries, including Australia. The tour took AC/DC on a 20 month trek around the globe playing to over 5 million fans in 108 cities in over 28 countries including 14 shows in Australia and New Zealand.
