In 1988, 1927 was a truly Australian music phenomenon, selling more than 500,000 copies of their debut album, ...ISH. It contained numerous hit singles and the band built a solid career around multiple sold out shows throughout Australia and the world. ...ISH is undoubtedly a classic Australian album.
Garry Frost, guitarist and keyboardist, had left Moving Pictures in 1984, after their second album, and was writing some songs in his Sydney home studio late in 1986. He was watching the Nine Networks variety programme Hey Hey It's Saturday "Red Faces" when Erik Weiderman appeared and performed a cover of the Police's "Roxanne". Garry Frost drove 880kms to Melbourne to recruit Weiderman on lead vocals, guitar and keyboards. The band became one of nthe most recognizable acts of its era and released several albums and further hit singles that spanned 6 years.
20 years on and 1927 have burst back on the scene. Through Alberts ...ISH was re-mastered and released September 2009 for the first time digitally. On it's release on iTunes, the album peaked at #10 confirming the band's popularity remains as strong today. This was also evident with the flow through of sell-out shows across the country.
