It’s a rarity to see a writer/producer gain as much credit as Jean-Paul ‘JP’ Fung has in the little years that he’s been standing behind the desk
The likes of Silverchair, Jet, Birds Of Tokyo, Little Red, 360, Bluejuice, Josh Pyke, Jinja Safari, Art Vs Science, Theophilus London, Last Dinosaurs and Glass Towers have all included JP’s name in their liner notes.
It all began for JP at the late Big Jesus Burger studios where he spent the first three years of his career as an in-house engineer, working closely with producer Scott Horscroft. During this time, he has had the opportunity to work internationally, learning various approaches from some of the best producers from around the globe; such as Chris Coady, Richard Wilkinson, Eliot James, Eric J Dubowsky, Paul McKercher and Wayne Connolly.
Whether it’s recording a live band to tape or spending months crafting a precise, pop masterpiece, JP knows how to get the best out of his artists.
JP’s dedicated approach has not gone unnoticed. In 2010 he was requested to travel halfway across the globe to Göthenburg, Sweden where he spent five weeks working on the Birds Of Tokyo album – “Birds Of Tokyo”. This album went on to debut at #1 and later winning an ARIA for Rock Album of the Year.
In early 2011 JP produced and engineered Last Dinosaurs’ debut album – “In A Million Years”. The production has been the talking point of many praising critics; with its formidable sound earning it Triple J’s Feature Album, and a slew of credible reviews.
“Sure the songs are great, but there’s something wonderful about how the album sounds. It’s like sonic ear candy, totally delectable and addictive."

"With incredibly slick production and the catchiest songs you’ll hear this side of 2000, ‘In A Million Years’ is a strong contender for the best Australian album of the past twenty years – 9.8/10”
~ Andrew Wade, The AU Review
