for their 2010 APRA Music Award Achievements

APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) revealed the winners of the 2010 APRA Music Awards, announced last night at a red carpet gala event at the Sydney Convention Centre. The awards celebrate composers and songwriters across 12 categories who have achieved excellence in their craft over the last year.

The influential SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR award, presented by rock historian Glenn A Baker and decided by the APRA Board of Writers and Publisher Directors, has been awarded to AC/DC’s Angus and Malcolm Young.

Their 2008 album release Black Ice peaked at number 1 across 27 countries and sold more than 1,700,000 units in its first week, and was accompanied by a worldwide sell out stadium tour. The Young brothers also took home the accolade for MOST PLAYED AUSTRALIAN WORK OVERSEAS for their single ‘Rock ‘N Roll Train’, proving they just keep on keeping on.

To mark the award, Megan Washington took to the stage at the ceremony to perform her own unique rendition of "It's a Long Way To The Top".
